Marine Corps Marathon Wants You!

Race Director Boot Camp will be held October 27-29 as part of
2006 MCM.
Road race directors, staff, and officials are invited to
register for the Marine Corps Marathon Race Director Boot Camp,
three days of intense Marine Corps-style training, welcoming a
new class of recruits to the ranks of the few, the proud, the
Race Directors.
Field exercises will take place on October 27 and 28 at the
Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, the Race Headquarters
Hotel. Regardless of MOS (military occupational specialty),
recruits will be briefed in a massive arsenal of topics
including race technology, maximizing media, police
participation, youth fitness, volunteers, and more. Recruits
will practice recon drills at the MCM Health and Fitness Expo on
October 28 and later, join marathon candidates in the mess hall
at the MCM Carbo Dining In.
On October 29, recruits can observe all tasks to accomplish
mission at hand as they witness the 31st Marine Corps Marathon
with a VIP pass., Or they can choose to PT (physical training)
by falling in with MCM or 10K runners at the start line.
"This isn't a sit around and sip your ice water while staring at
a PowerPoint conference. This is an intense presentation of
event intel," warns Rick Nealis, Commanding Officer of Boot Camp
and MCM Race Director. "Think you have what it takes to make it
through Race Director Boot Camp? Then report for duty on October
27."

MCM office at 800-RUN-USMC or emailing Elizabeth
Cline for an application. Recruits will receive the MCM
uniform of the day- the coveted MCM mock-neck shirt, as part of
the $260 Boot Camp registration fee as well as other boot camp
goodies, dinner on Friday and Saturday night, breakfast on
Saturday morning, one entry into the MCM or MCM 10K, VIP pass,
and more!
Voted "Best Marathon for Families" by HerSports Magazine,
the Marine Corps Marathon continues a combined tradition of
dedication, sportsmanship and patriotism. Since its inception,
over 300,000 civilian and military runners from all walks of
life have participated, deservingly earning the event its
nickname "The People's Marathon." The 31 st Marine Corps
