By Elizabeth Ottaway April 29, 2006 Arlington, VA For the Washington Running Report
The Washington RunHers is hosting a free information meeting on
their women's track program on Thursday, May 4th at 7pm at the
Arlington Central Library. Come learn about this unique track
program that is open to female runners of all abilities who are
running regularly and want to improve their running form, speed
and fitness.
Attendees will meet the coaches, Al Logie and John Rusinko, and
learn about their shared coaching philosophy and what can be
achieved by running track. It will also be a great opportunity
to talk to returning participants and get their first hand views
on this fun but challenging program. The meeting will be
informal and there will be plenty of time to ask questions.
Refreshments will be served plus there will be drawings for door
prizes. The library is located at 1015 N. Quincy Street, Arlington, VA

www.mapquest.com. There is plenty of parking available at
the library. By metro, take the Orange Line to the Ballston
Station. Walk three blocks up Fairfax Drive to Quincy Street.
Turn left on Quincy Street. The library is less than a block on
the right. This year's program starts on Tuesday, May 16th. Workouts are
held weekly from 6:15 - 8:00 p.m., rain or shine, and continue
until September 26th. We use the track at Wakefield High School
at 4901 S. Chesterfield Road, Arlington, VA, which a short drive
from 395 near Shirlington and Skyline. The track is not metro
accessible but if you ride the Metro and want to participate in
the program, we encourage you to attend the May 4th meeting
where you can speak with others in the program who have
facilitated rides between the metro and the track in previous
years. The program cost is $100. There is an additional $20 cost
for annual club membership for new members.
