Army Ten-Miler Sells Out In Record 21 Days
From Army Ten-Miler April 29, 2008 Washington, DC For the Washington Running Report
The Army's 24th annual 10-mile race filled its 2008 runner
field on April 21st in a record 21 days. "The Army Ten-Miler
has a strong brand and we are pleased with the continued
success of this race," said Jim Vandak, Race Director.
The Army Ten-Miler is America's largest 10-mile race attracting
participants from all 50 states and 12 countries including:
Canada, Australia, Israel, Mexico, Britain, and Sweden. More
than 570 teams have registered for the team competition to
compete for top honors in 25 divisions. US military teams will
compete for the Commander's Cup and its associated bragging
rights.
Runners who missed registration still have an opportunity to
compete in this year's Army Ten-Miler through the Online
Registration Transfer Process which opens May 15th and runs
until August 8th. Last year more than 1,200 people took
advantage of this process which allows registered runners to
transfer their entry to another runner.
About the Army Ten-Miler
The 2008 Army Ten-Miler will take place on Sunday, October 5 in
Washington, DC at the Pentagon. The Association of the US Army
(AUSA) and KBR are the co-lead sponsors for this year's event.
Race weekend activities include a race expo, fitness clinics,
youth runs, 94.7 the Globe Post Race Party and HOOAH Tents from
Army installations from around the world. Proceeds from the
Army Ten-Miler go to support soldier and soldier family Morale,
Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) programs.
