By Bob Briggs April 23, 2008 For the Washington Running Report
The Potomac Valley Track Club is proud to announce Lea Gallardo
as the recipient of the 2008 Ed Barron Memorial Award, honoring
her contributions to track and field and distance running in
the Washington, DC area.
Gallardo, owner of Metro Run & Walk stores in McLean,
Springfield, and Rockville, was honored for her outstanding
support and sponsorship of numerous events, including track and
field meets, cross country, and road races at the youth, high
school, and open levels. She was presented a silver platter at
the PVTC 35th anniversary awards banquet March 9 in Alexandria.
The Ed Barron Memorial Award is one of the premier awards given
annually by the Potomac Valley Track Club and is the only one
open to non-members as well as PVTC members. It is named for
