Summer Assaults on the Mt. Vernon Bike Trail
On Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at approximately 1:00 PM, a female was jogging on the George Washington Memorial Parkway Bike Path in the area of Dyke Marsh and Belle Haven Marina (south of the City of Alexandria), when she saw the male suspect standing in the middle of the bike path. The suspect produced a gun, pointed it at the victim, and made comments of a sexual nature. The suspect grabbed the victim, and the victim was able to distract the suspect and flee to safety.

The suspect, depicted here, is described as a Hispanic or Middle Eastern male, 20's, 5'5", slim to medium build, with broad shoulders and a scar or scratch above his upper lip. He was wearing a tee shirt and light blue jeans.

A similar assault by a suspect with a similar physical and clothing description occurred in the same vicinity on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at approximately 4:50 PM. he suspect in that assault jumped out of the bushes.
