Ferris, Baker Watts to Sponsor Baltimore Marathon Charity Challenge

Benefiting the United Way and Queen Anne School

About being involved in the Baltimore Marathon Charity Challenge, Mr. Fox-Boyd said, "I am honored to have been given this opportunity, and humbled to have the chance to provide both for cancer patients and for my students on such a scale."

Ferris, Baker Watts, Inc. (FBW) is pleased to announce that it will be sponsoring the Baltimore Marathon's Charity Challenge. Mr. Michael J. Fox-Boyd, Head Coach of the Queen Anne School Varsity Track Team will start at the end of the pack at the Under Armour Baltimore Marathon on Saturday, October 14th. FBW will donate $2 to The United Way of Central Maryland and $1 to QAS for every marathon runner Coach Fox-Boyd passes during the race.

Michael J. Fox-Boyd is Chair of the Math Department at The Queen Anne School in Upper Marlboro, MD and is the head coach of the QAS Varsity Track and Varsity Cross Country teams. The track team has been Potomac Valley Athletic Conference Champions for the past four out of five years since Mr. Fox-Boyd became coach. Coach Fox-Boyd is a 2001 graduate of Wesleyan University with a B.A. degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. While at Wesleyan, he earned four varsity letters each in cross country, indoor, and outdoor track. He also broke the Wesleyan school record in the 1000 (indoor) and the 4X400 (outdoor). Mr. Fox- Boyd has been ranked as one of the top runners in the DC Metro Area. He has finished in the top 50 twice in the Cherry Blossom 10-mile run with a best finish of 39th place in 2005 with a time of 55:49. Mr. Fox-Boyd made his marathon debut in the Marine Corp Marathon in 2005 with a time of 3:07, a 181-place finish out of more than 19,000 runners. He is an active member in the DC Roadrunners Club.

The Queen Anne School is a private, co-educational college preparatory school. Founded by St. Barnabas Church in 1964, the school is located on a 50-acre campus midway between Washington, DC and Annapolis, MD. The contribution to the Queen Anne School will be used to fund the Education Committee's Fund for Teacher Professional Development. Over the past five years, this fund has been able to support more than 80 programs for the faculty ranging from contemporary 20th century literature and film, ceramic work in a three-dimensional studio to math and computer technology.

Ferris, Baker Watts is pleased to make the contribution to the United Way in Mr. Fox-Boyd's name to support cancer research.
