Three years ago, a tradition started with the Navy 5-Miler. This
year's event will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2006, at
8:00 AM. The USATF certified course starts and finishes on Ohio
Drive in West Potomac Park; it is flat and fast to the tip of
Hains Point and returning via the Inlet Bridge. The Navy 5-Miler is open to all and costs $25 through August
31; beginning September 1, the cost is $30. Online registration
is available at www.active.com
The last day to register on-line is September
20, 2006. There will be no race day registration.
Packet pick-up will be held on Thursday, September 21, from
12:00 - 6:00 pm at the Anacostia Annex Bldg 419, Fitness Center
in Washington, DC. An authorized ID is required to access the
base at the Anacostia Annex.
Packet pick-up will be held on Saturday, September 23, from
2:00 - 6:00 pm at Pacers Running Store, 1301 King Street,
Alexandria, VA 22314 in Old Town Alexandria.
Race day packet and AMB-it chip pick up will start at 6:30AM at
the race site. No registrations will be accepted on race day.
There will be overall awards for the top three males and
females. The first masters male and female will receive an
award. The age group awards will go to the top three males and
females in five year age groups starting with 19 & under and
concluding with 60 & over. The top three male and female
wheelchair athletes will also receive awards. There will no
duplication of awards.
The Admiral Challenge will be open to active duty military
teams with all members from the same service branch. Teams may
consist of three to five runners with at least one female
finisher.
There are additional awards given to the first place teams in
the following categories:
Military, civilian, and masters (age 40 and over).

The Navy 5-Miler is produced by Navy Morale, Welfare and
Recreation. The mission of MWR is to provide quality support
and recreational services that contribute to the retention,
readiness, mental, physical, and emotional well-being of
sailors and DoD civilians.
