Please join Metro Run & Walk and NIKE to celebrate Alan's new American record in the mile. Alan recently broke Steve Scott's record which stood for 25 years. In addition to celebrating this accomplishment, it will be a great send off as Alan heads for the World Championships in Osaka, Japan where he will run in 1500 meter events on August 25, 27, and 29.

A South Lakes High School graduate, Alan also has the world's fastest times in the 1500 meters and mile for 2007 and the 2nd fastest 800 meter time.

Samia Akbar (Reebok, Oakton High School and American University) who will represent the United States on the marathon team will also appear. Samia has run 2:34:14 at New York City in 2006 and looks to put in a good showing for Team USA.

Presented by Metro Run & Walk and NIKE, there will be light refreshments and door prizes distributed throughout the evening in addition to photo opportunities with the athletes.
