The annual Rotary Resolution Race has become famous in DC area
running circles. It is the largest New Year's Day race in the
metropolitan area.
The Rotary Club of Leesburg coordinates the race, which has
produced more than $76,000 for Loudoun County charities. This
year's race is expected to draw about 800 participants and
produce more than $23,000 in proceeds, to be split between the
following local charities:
Doctors Overseas Lending a Helping Hand
Interfaith Relief
Loudoun County Rescue Squad
Loudoun Volunteer Caregivers
Northern Virginia Family Service
The Rotary Club of Leesburg Perry Winston Memorial
Scholarship Fund.
Pre- and post-race activities are in the gym at Ida Lee
Recreation Center. The 10K course winds through the beautiful
grounds of Morven Park. This is the only day of the year that
runners are allowed in the Park. The untimed fun 4K run/walk
goes to the mansion and back to Ida Lee. Non-runners enjoy the
brisk walk to the mansion--a great way to start the New Year.
Participants in both races receive long sleeve shirts and food,
enjoy live entertainment and have a chance at more than $3,000
in door prizes. Family participation is encouraged. Prices for
participants under age 12 are reduced by $10 this year.

second straight year.
