The 8th annual Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10K presented by POWERade, voted the best road race in the southeast by readers of Blue Ridge Outdoors magazine, will begin accepting online entries for the March 31, 2007 event on Tuesday, December 26. Registration for the YMCA 10K Training Team, designed to prepare runners and walkers alike for the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10K, will also open at that time, as will registration for the First Market Mile Kids Run.

The Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10K features something for everyone! Participants will enjoy the rocking music and imaginative cheers from the Spirit Groups along the scenic, tree-lined medians. They will soak in the cheers from thousands of partying spectators and celebrate people-watching at its best as costumed runners and walkers mingle amongst the 24,000 participants. Then it is on to the awesome post-race party in Monroe Park.

The 2007 Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10K will now accept 24,000 participants, up from the 20,000-person limit reached last year. The registration fee is $25 through January 31. The First Market Mile Kids Run entry fee is $10 through January 31. Anyone wishing to mail in their registration for either event may download an entry form off the web site or pick one up at any Ukrop's Super Market. The 2006 race reached its capacity and closed registration almost three weeks prior to the event.

Online registration also opens on December 26 for the 10-week YMCA 10K Training Team program that begins on January 20 and is limited to 3,000 participants. The registration fee is $50 and includes entry in the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10K. Anyone wishing to mail in their Training Team registration may download an entry form off the web site or pick one up at any Richmond-area YMCA branch.
