Inaugural Loudoun County Race Series Wraps Up 2007 Season

Five premier events in Loudoun County, Virginia joined
together in 2007 to form the Loudoun Race Series. The series
began with the Van Metre 5-Mile Run for Children's Hospital
(March 10); continued through the spring and summer with the
LAWS Run for the Shelter Half-Marathon & 5K (April 15); the
Potomac River Running Twilight Festival 4-Miler (June 23); and
the Harris Teeter YMCA Loudoun County Leesburg 10K & 20K
(August 12); and concluded with the Stone Ridge 5K Race for
Education (October 13). Awards were earned through participation and by accumulating
points. Participants in three of the five events qualified for
a commemorative medal. Those who completed four events added a
$10 gift certificate to
Potomac
River Running Store (Ashburn, Burke, Reston). Participation
in
all five events earned a commemorative long sleeve technical
t-shirt in addition to the gift certificate and medal.
Twenty-three participants completed all the races in the series
to earn the shirt: Jennifer Whittenberg, Julie Yearwood, Stacy Baron, Teri Finn,
Sherry Puhan, Anna Van Dyke, Marcie Fuller, Shannon Scalan,
Cheryl Young, Jodi Border, Luisa Grant, Connie Jordan,
Stephanie Kelly, Thomas Yearwood, Steve Putnam, Jeff Ewing,
Frederic Puhan, Brian Kelly, Donald Metheson, Ronny Van Dyke,
John Winkert, Christopher Murray, and Steve Moulton. The top three men and women points earners (minimum
participation of three events, points earned for a top 25
finish) are listed below. The winning male and female will
receive a certificate for a free pair of shoes from
Potomac River Running Store. Men: 1st (Rob Jones, 22 points--Free Pair of Shoes), 2nd (Ted
Poulos, 10 points), 3rd (Thomas Filippi, 9 points) Women: 1st (Anita Freres, 31 points--Free Pair of Shoes), 2nd
(Jennifer Van Den Berg, 16 points), 3rd (Cheryl Young, 12
points)
