Online Entry Opens March 1 for 2003 Army Ten-Miler
By Jim Vandak, Event Director February 26, 2003 Washington, DC For the Washington Running Report
More than 18,000 runners from around the world are expected for
the 19th annual Army Ten-Miler race on Oct 5, 2003. Online
registration for America's largest 10-mile road race will open
March 1 at the
Army Ten Miler
Web site and more than eighty percent of all participants
are expected to register online. The entry fee is still $25 and the deadline to enter is Sept. 5
or when the field is filled. The field is limited to 18,000
runners. "Runners can expect another great race this year,"
reported Jim Vandak, Director of the Army Ten-Miler. Because the
race is two weeks earlier this year and it always fills up,
Vandak encourages runners to register early. America's largest 10-mile race also fields a big team
competition. This year, more than 700 teams are expected to vie
for top honors with U.S. military teams competing for bragging
rights and the coveted Commander's Cup. A short Kids Run for
kids in grades K thru 8 is always held after the Army Ten-Miler
race. The entry fee for the Kids Run is only $8. Online
registration is available for both the Kids Run and the Team
Competition. The Army Ten-Miler is produced by the United States Army and
is known for its esprit de corps, its runner support, and
its "Tradition Of Excellence". For more information on the Army
Ten-Miler go to the Army Ten Miler Web site or call
(202) 635-3361.
