BALTIMORE (February 15, 2005) - 180s, LLC, Baltimore-based maker
of innovative performance wear, announced today the continuation of its
title sponsorship of the Shamrock 5K Run, scheduled to take place
immediately before the Baltimore St. Patrick Parade on Sunday, March
13, at 1 p.m.Approximately 4,000 runners are expected to participate in the 180s
Shamrock 5K Run again this year. The race, which is organized by
Charm City Run and St. Patrick Celebrations, Inc., begins at the
intersection of Charles and Franklin streets, follows the parade route,
and for the second year, finishes at 180s' corporate headquarters - the
180s Performance Lab - located at Columbus Center in the Inner
Harbor.
"Race sponsorships have become a large part of 180s' local outreach
efforts across the country, as supporting the local, committed athlete
is a pillar of the 180s mission," said Brian Le Gette, co-founder and
CEO of 180s. "The Shamrock Run, however, is particularly important to
us, because the race takes place in our own hometown and has a
wonderful reputation as a fun event for everyone involved."
At the 2005 180s Shamrock 5K Run, 180s will showcase many of its
innovative products, including the new runner-specific Convertible
Running Glove and ExoLite(tm) Ear Warmer, which will both be
available to purchase on-site and at Charm City Run. The Convertible
Running Glove ranked among the Top 15 products for winter running by
Runner's World (February 2005), and the ExoLite(tm) Ear Warmer was
listed as one of the Top 100 products for men in the December 2004
issue of Men's Health.
Participants can also get an early preview of the 180s Quantum Vent(tm)
Running Jacket and Catalyst LS base layer shirt. The runner-specific
products are designed with technologies that provide on demand
thermal control throughout the run without the need to "unlayer".
All participants at the 180s Shamrock 5K Run will receive a
complimentary long-sleeved cotton T-shirt to wear in the race. A
moisture-wicking performance running shirt is available for an
additional fee of $20. 180s will provide gift bags, including the
Convertible Running Glove and ExoLite Ear Warmer, for the top runner
in each division, as well as for winners of other contests held at the
event.
The Kilt Brigade, back this year by popular demand, allows runners to
show their Celtic pride by running the race in a kilt. The fun continues
after the 5K with live music by "Kristen and the Noise," complimentary
Killian's Irish Red Beer for all runners 21 and older and a post-face
drawing, open to all race participants, for two round-trip airline
tickets to Ireland.
Registration for the 180s Shamrock 5K Run is currently open at either
www.irishparade.net or
www.charmcityrun.com , and www.active.com . The 180s Shamrock 5K Run is a USA
Track and Field (USATF) certified course, and proceeds from the race
will be donated to St. Patrick Celebrations, Inc. to defray costs of the
parade.
