Center in Germantown, MD. But be forewarned--this is not just

Headquartered in Germantown, Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit
Union is a community-chartered credit union offering
low-cost financial services to anyone who lives, works,
worships or
goes to school in Montgomery County, Maryland. The credit
union, which has more than 21,000 members and more than $200
million in assets, is committed to helping its members achieve
their financial goals. MAFCU is federally insured by the
National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund. For more information on becoming a member, visit www.mafcu.org or
call 301-944-1800. Beneficiaries: This year the race proceeds will go to support two well-
deserving local charities, namely the Germantown Boys & Girls
Club and the Community Services for Autistic Adults and
Children (CSAAC): The mission of the Germantown Boys & Girls Club is to
help boys and girls of all backgrounds, with an emphasis on at-
risk youth, to build confidence, develop character and acquire
the skills needed to become productive, civic-minded,
responsible adults.Today, children come from families in which
both parents work. In fact, this situation seems to define
the 'traditional' family these days. Elementary students today
lack the community support required to deal with academics,
extracurricular activities and social challenges. The
Germantown Boys & Girls Club seeks to provide youth with a
positive and safe place in which their development is sought. CSAAC, Community Services for Autistic Adults and
Children, has been serving children and adults with autism
in Montgomery County since 1979. Due to the nature of Autism
Spectrum Disorders (ASDs), many individuals served by the
program require lifelong assistance. Some children and adults
with autism require supports to that they are able to perform
basic daily living tasks, such as dressing, preparing a meal,
or participating in a recreational activity. CSAAC works with
children and adults with autism using the best practices
available, centering around encouraging communication and
providing positive behavioral support. CSAAC's mission is to
enable individuals with autism to achieve their highest
potential and contribute as confident individuals to their
community. CSAAC serves 300 children and adults with autism
age 2 to 62, operates two school sites and 50 community living
homes
around Montgomery County! Participants in the race will have access to the festive post
race area, which will include a moon bounce for children and
homemade baked goods, bagels, and more, to be enjoyed by all.
