Rails-to-Trails Conservancy to benefit from purchases at Rockville Whole Foods on Wednesday
By Katie Test January 12, 2008 Rockville, MD For the Washington Running Report
What: Wednesday, January 16, the Rockville Whole Foods Market will
donate five percent of the day's sales to Rails-to-Trails
Conservancy (RTC). RTC, a national 501(c) nonprofit, has helped
establish and promote some of Rockville's favorite regional
rail-trails, such as the Capital Crescent and the Goldmine
Loop. Every Whole Foods Market hosts four 5% Community Support
Days annually to support the work of community nonprofits. "I am thrilled to learn that Whole Foods in Rockville is giving
five percent of every purchase to Rails-to-Trails Conservancy
on Wednesday," says Kathy Freedman, co-owner of Capital Running
Company, and a member of RTC since 1999. "The rail-trails in
our local area are very important to our community and those
who enjoy active lifestyles through running, walking, biking
and skating. It's a great way to give back to RTC while doing
one's regular grocery shopping." Most recently, RTC assisted trail-building efforts on a
Catonsville rail-trail outside Baltimore and the Metropolitan
Branch Trail in Washington, DC. "Whole Foods Market is giving us a great opportunity to promote
our local trail work and we truly appreciate the generosity of
the
local Rockville community," says Keith Laughlin, president of
Rails-to-Trails Conservancy. Where:
