ZOOMA Women's Race Series Launches Free Online Trainer for Participants
By Brae Blackley
January 8, 2008
Annapolis, MD
For the Washington Running Report

ZOOMA Women's Race Series launched the ZOOMA Trainer, a complimentary online training site for all ZOOMA runners. The ZOOMA Trainer offers twelve-week run and run/walk training programs for the half marathon and 10K distances and also offers participants one-on-one interactive coaching with a certified personal trainer. For a face-to-face experience, ZOOMA participants can utilize the Trainer's group training network to connect with other runners training for ZOOMA races in their area. Other offerings of the Trainer include a training log, personalized training calendar, product reviews and tips, and special discounts from ZOOMA partners. Participants can register for the Trainer and find free training programs through the ZOOMA Women's Race Series web site.

Coach Gracie Updyke, founder of gracie's gear and training, designed the ZOOMA Women's Race Series training programs and will serve as the Personal Coach for ZOOMA runners on the Trainer. Coach Gracie, a certified Health and Fitness Instructor with the American College of Sports Medicine, graduated with a master's degree in exercise science from the University of Louisiana at Monroe before relocating to North Carolina, where she now manages Duke University's employee wellness program. In addition to her training activities, Coach Gracie founded a women's athletic apparel line called "gracie's gear" that includes the patented POWER POUCH technology. The POWER POUCHTM is a storage pouch that offers unique functionality while providing the total support and comfortable fit of a traditional sports bra. Gracie's gear can be purchased at local running stores, at the ZOOMA After Party- Expos, or online at www.graciesgearandtraining.com.

ZOOMA Annapolis Half Marathon & 10K also announced a new promotion this week to motivate women to challenge themselves to lead healthier lives in 2008. Before February 2, participants can receive a discount on registration fees by entering NEWYEAR2008 on their online registration form. ZOOMA Annapolis will also increase its registration fees on February 2, so runners registering before that date with the promotion code will receive a big discount off the post-February 2 price.

ZOOMA Annapolis Half Marathon & 10K, a ZOOMA Women's Race Series event on June 1, 2008 in Annapolis, MD, represents a new concept in road races designed to inspire women to lead healthier lives with more perks and bigger parties. ZOOMA races create a unique "girls' weekend" atmosphere to encourage women to train for and accomplish challenging fitness goals. ZOOMA Annapolis Half Marathon & 10K, the first event of the national series will include a half marathon, 10K, jog stroller 10K, and kids' fun run. Runners will start at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and run through scenic Annapolis, entertained and cheered on by their families, neighborhood groups, and local spirit squads. The second event of the series will take place in Atlanta, GA on November 16, 2008 and will tentatively include a half marathon, 5K, jog stroller 5K, and kids' fun run.
