Annapolis, MD
For the Washington Running Report

Registration is still open for the ZOOMA Annapolis Half Marathon & 10K, to be held on June 1, 2008 in Annapolis, Maryland, but event directors today announced they expect to cap registration at 2,000 in the first year of the boutique women's event. Currently, registration for the half marathon is $85 and for the 10K is $45. The price for both events will increase by $10 on February 2. Online registration is available through the ZOOMA web site.

ZOOMA races offer a "girls' weekend" atmosphere with a host of pampering amenities, including mini spa treatments and wine tastings at the post-race party. Many women are also excited about the camaraderie of running with 2,000 other women.

"A large gathering of motivated and energetic women creates a special atmosphere," said Brae Blackley, executive director of ZOOMA Women's Race Series. "We're excited to bring a ZOOMA event to the area, and we think Annapolis has the perfect vibe for a laid-back and fun girls' weekend."

In cooperation with Running Away Online, ZOOMA Annapolis is offering weekend packages for friends looking for a fitness- oriented getaway. The package includes a two-night stay at the luxurious Westin Annapolis hotel, training runs, and stretching clinics with ZOOMA Coach Gracie Updyke, a spa treatment, meals, and race registration. Information about the girls' weekend get-away package is available.

ZOOMA runners receive a host of unique amenities, including access to the online ZOOMA Trainer, with free training programs, a group training network, and interactive discussions with a certified personal coach. At the ZOOMA After Party- Expo, participants will enjoy wine tastings, mini spa treatments, live music, shopping, lunch for all participants, and more. All runners receive a technical T-shirt and a chip- timed race through a scenic course in historic Annapolis.

ZOOMA Annapolis Half Marathon & 10K, a ZOOMA Women's Race Series event, represents a new concept in running races designed to inspire women to lead healthy lives with more perks and bigger parties. ZOOMA half marathon and 10K races create a unique "girls' weekend" atmosphere to encourage women to train for and accomplish challenging fitness goals. ZOOMA Annapolis Half Marathon & 10K, the first event of the national series, takes place in Annapolis, Maryland on June 1, 2008 and will include a half-marathon, 10K, Jog Stroller 10K, and kids' fun run. Runners will start at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and run through scenic Annapolis, entertained and cheered on by their families, neighborhood groups and local spirit squads.
