Check It Out Challenge: Hadassah's Annual 10K Race, 5K Run/Walk Joined by New Family Fun Walk

The Check It Out Challenge, presented by Hadassah of Greater
Baltimore, will be held on Sunday, August 1 at Baltimore Inner
Harbor, Rash Field. The 10K Race, beginning at 8:00 am, will be
part of the Charm City Run Distance Challenge, a series of road
races leading up to the Baltimore Marathon. Runners, walkers,
families, and teams will also have the opportunity to
participate in the 5K Run/Walk, which begins at 7:30 am. The 1.5
Mile Fun Walk, starting at 8:15 am, will feature interactive
activities and prizes for children as they stroll with their
parents around the Harbor Promenade. Proceeds from the Race help fund Hadassah's award-winning health
programs offered throughout the Baltimore metropolitan area.
Race sponsors include LifeBridge Health, Kaiser Permanente,
Mercantile Investment Management & Trust Division, Davis S.
Brown Enterprises, Legg Mason Funds, McCormick & Company, Inc.,
Safeway, Surgical Specialists, Comcast, WB 54, WYPR, and the
Owings Mills Times. Registration is available in person at Charm City Run in
Timonium, MD, on the
Web, or by
calling (410) 484-9590. The registration fee of $25 entitles
participants to receive a race T-shirt, post-race refreshments,
and a chance to win a variety of prizes and giveaways. Prizes
will be awarded for the fastest times (top 3 overall male and
female, and top 3 male and female in 7 age categories), largest
team, and most money raised by an individual and by a team. For more than a decade, Hadassah of Greater Baltimore, a
chapter of the largest volunteer women's organization in the
United States, has sponsored community-wide, grassroots health
education programs. As part of Hadassah's worldwide commitment
to research, disease prevention, health promotion, and healing,
these programs are dedicated to empower all people, without
discrimination to race, religion, nationality, or age to be
responsible for their own bodies. Our local health programs
include: Check It Out - high school-based breast, testicular,
and prostate cancer awareness programs; Straight from the Heart -
focused on the different signs and symptoms of heart disease in
women; Pikuah Nefesh - stressing the importance of organ
donation; and our newest initiative, Beyond The Mirror - a
series of programs and activities promoting positive body
images, fitness and nutrition for teens and pre-teens. Through

availability of these vital education programs!
