Spring Forward: the Inaugural Kingstowne 5K Run/Walk & Festival to Benefit Goodwill of Greater Washington

Goodwill of Greater Washington proudly announces that it has been chosen as the beneficiary of
Spring Forward, the Inaugural Kingstowne 5K Run/Walk & Festival in Kingstowne (Alexandria), VA on Saturday, July 24, 2004.The 5K run/walk kicks off a day of family activities designed to promote wellness and safety. These activities include a Goodwill charity drive, martial arts show, vision and hearing screenings by the Lion's Club, moonbounces, games and fingerprinting for the kids, voter registration, displays and demonstrations by local fire and police departments, merchant product and service demonstrations, free food and beverages, Taiko drumming, raffles, and more! DC's #1 hit country music radio station, 98.7 FM WMZQ, will be out playing music and handing out prizes and free ice cream to the crowd! According to event organizer Chris Santillo of United Studios of Self Defense, "Our goal is to promote the condition of being healthy and sound in mind, body, occupation, and community. We chose Goodwill as our beneficiary because the organization's mission is to help build a more healthy and vital community through the education, training, employment, and placement of people with disadvantages and disabilities. What a great match!" Brendan Hurley, Senior VP of Marketing for Goodwill of Greater Washington, says, "Goodwill is very proud to have been selected as the beneficiary for the Kingstowne 5K. We're always seeking new events that will allow us to educate the community on the services we provide. This helps us accomplish that goal in a forum with a very positive, healthy message." Race prizes will be awarded for the top 3 overall male and female finishers as well as the 1st through 3rd places in multiple age categories and all participants will receive a race tee shirt, post race refreshment, entry into the prize raffle, and a wristband for the festival . The race will be timed using ChampionChip. The race and festival will take place at the Kingstowne Towne Center at 5960 Kingstowne Center Drive, Kingstowne, VA. Race begins at 8 AM. Registration fee is $21 prior to July 20, $25 after July 20 and on race day. Runners can register

or print and fax or mail an
