Rockville Town Center is the place to be on Saturday, July 17,
2004, for the 19th running of the Rockville Rotary Twilight
Runfest. Dubbed the "most competitive race in the DC area" by
the Washington Running Report, the event consists of an 8K race
for runners and wheelchair racers along with a 1K fun run
beginning at "twilight." Awards will be given to the first five
open male and female, top three masters division finishers, top
three wheelchair finishers, and top three male and female
finishers in age groups. The 8K USATF-certified course takes runners through local
neighborhoods and around the Montgomery College campus. The 1K
Fun Run starts immediately after the 8K and is a short out and
back, with both races finishing under the balloon arch and
lights. Runners are reminded that it is typically hot and humid
during this race and that they should be properly trained for
these conditions.
Rockville's largest block party--the famous Rockville Rotary
Twilight Run Festival--runs from 7 pm to 11 pm for runners and
spectators. There will be food, refreshments, live musical
entertainment, and dancing in the streets. Refreshments are free
for registered runners.
The Montgomery County Road Runners Club newly published
book, "What Do You Think of When You Run" will be for sale in
the festival area.
Online registration closes on Wednesday, July 14; however, you
can still register at packet pick-up or late registration on
Saturday, July 17 at the following locations and times: Noon to
4 pm at RnJ Sports, 11910-R Parklawn Drive, Rockville; or 6 pm
to 8 pm at Courthouse Square in Rockville Town Center. Please
note that packet pick-up and late registration is available only
on race day. ChampionChip pick-up will be available at both

The Twilight Runfest is presented by the Rockville Rotary
Club and hosted by the City of Rockville Department of
Recreation and Parks. The race is conducted by the
