The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) and The Map Network have unveiled the new MCM course map on www.marinemarathon.com incorporating state of the art technology to create an interactive online experience. The 2005 Marine Corps Marathon map will also be presented as a hard copy keepsake at the MCM Runners' Expo in October. The full color online map enables runners to view hundreds of different points-of-interest along with detailed course information. For runners, planning for the October 30 event is facilitated by this Web site resource.

"We are very excited to partner with the Marine Corps Marathon," said Shane Green, president and CEO of The Map Network. "No event depends on mapping like a marathon, and the Marine Corps Marathon will be able to provide runners and spectators an online preview of the course, spectator locations for the best marathon viewing, local attractions in metropolitan Washington, and the floor plan for the Runners' Expo."

The custom course map features everything runners and spectators need to know from mile-by-mile markers to water points, medical aid stations, food distribution points, photo locations, live music and entertainment. MCM 8K runners and participants in the Healthy Kids Fun Run can click through their own interactive course map as well. Spectators can use the event map to follow the recommended route for viewing runners. Detailed information on parking, shuttle bus service and Metro routes can be examined to ease any race morning transportation concerns.

"Gone are the days of hard to fold and read maps," said Rick Nealis, MCM Race Director. "The Map Network has created a map that is easy to navigate, simple to use and will help make the race more accessible and enjoyable to runners and spectators alike."

About the MCM The Marine Corps Marathon continues a tradition of dedication, sportsmanship and patriotism. Since its inception, over 300,000 civilian and military runners from all walks of life have participated, earning the event its nickname "The People's Marathon."
