The Road Runners Club of America has selected the Annapolis Ten Mile Run to be the 2005 RRCA National Ten Mile Championship. The race will be held on
Sunday, August 28, 2005 in scenic Annapolis, Maryland. The
course starts and finishes at the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium,
goes through downtown Annapolis, around the United States Naval
Academy, and across the Severn River, overlooking the
Chesapeake Bay. Details can be found at
http://annapolisstriders.org/A10Application.html. This is a
very popular race and has been named one of
the "Top 5 Ten Mile Races in the Country" by runners World and also was chosen the
magazine's "Destination Race" in 2002. The Annapolis Ten Mile is limited to
5,000 runners and closed out in 9 days this year. However,
Race Director Ron Bowman said he would give Complimentary
Entries, plus assist with accommodations (like 'host a
runner') to any State or Regional top three finisher that
would like to compete in this challenging race. If you are
interested or would like further details, contact Ron at
lynnron1@comcast.net or 410-573-1929 (before 9 pm EST). Read Jim Hage's Story on the 2004 Annapolis Ten Mile.
