2005 Army Ten-Miler Allows Entry Transfers
By Roxana Hoveyda
July 25, 2005
Washington, DC
For the Washington Running Report

Registration for the 2005 Army Ten-Miler has closed in a record 101 days, however, runners can still find a way into this year's race. For the first time in its 21-year history, the Army Ten- Miler is allowing entry transfers into the race. This means that runners who have already registered but have now decided they cannot run have the opportunity to transfer their registration. The deadline for all transfers is August 15 at 5:00 PM.

The Army Ten-Miler has set up a Bulletin Board on their website to help runners communicate with each other. It can be found by clicking on www.armytenmiler.com. While there is no guarantee of entry, the race is pleased to offer this service to runners. Race Director Jim Vandak says, "It's a win-win offer. If you can't run, you can recover some of your entry fee, if you can't register, you can potentially now run!"

Individuals who didn't make the registration or the transfer deadline may also consider volunteering. Volunteers are still needed for Friday, Sep 30 and Saturday Oct 1 at the HQ race hotel. More volunteer information and registration can be found on the Army Ten-Miler website.

In addition to race day activities, the weekend also features an expo, runners' clinics, and the annual GEICO Pasta Dinner on Saturday, Oct. 1. Dinner tickets may be purchased online for $25. Runners and spectators can enjoy the post-race festivities including live music, a Youth Activity Zone, and a HOOAH Tent Zone where Army Teams from around the world show their spirit. This year promises another exceptional ten-mile race steeped in the Army's Tradition of Excellence.

For additional race information go to www.armytenmiler.com. Produced by the U.S. Army Military District of Washington, the Army Ten-Miler is the largest 10- mile race in America.
