Third Annual Super H 5K Run Slated for September 17 in VA
Race to Benefit National Rehabilitation Hospital and BlazeSports Club in Washington, DC
By Renie Freedman July 15, 2006 McLean, VA For the Washington Running Report
When Harry Freedman lost his left leg in a worksite accident two
years ago, he had been an avid runner and cyclist and even
completed a 350-mile bike race. The accident left Harry (Super
H) with months of physical rehabilitation and monumental mental
challenges.Heeding his determination to return to an active life, Harry's
wife, kids, and friends organized the first-ever Super H 5K Run
to outfit "Super H" with state of the art sport legs. A
considerable success by all accounts, in 2005 the donations went
to the BlazeSports Club and NRH and this year we are pleased to
tell you that the Race is on again. Slated for Sunday, September 17 at the Tysons Sport & Health
Club in McLean, VA, the 2006 Super H 5K Run & Walk will once
again benefit young patients at the National Rehabilitation
Hospital, as well as children and adults with disabilities in
the Washington metropolitan area. The race starts promptly at
8:00 a.m. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. and a post race pool
party after the race will begin at 9:00a.m. for all sponsors,
volunteers and race participants. "So many people were there to help me in rebuilding my life, I
want them to know how important it was to me, and we want to
make sure there is someone there to help the children who need
us," says Freedman. For information about sponsorship opportunities, please call
Joan Joyce, Therapeutic Recreation Therapist at the National
Rehabilitation Hospital, at 202-877-1434, or via
E-mail.
