Sail 4th With the Navy-5 Miler

The Navy tradition continues, the 4th Annual Navy 5-Miler
will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2007, 8:00 a.m. The race
this year will start and finish on Ohio Drive in West Potomac
Park. The certified USATF course is flat and fast and goes to
the tip of Hains Point and returns by way of the Inlet
Bridge. The race is open to military and civilians. The race entry fee
is $30.00 until August 31, 2007. The fee goes up to $35.00 on
September 1, 2007. On-line registrations are being accepted at
www.active.com. The last day to register on-line is
September 20, 2007. All mail-in entries must be postmarked by
September 1, 2007. There will be NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION per
the U.S. Park Service regulations. Packet pick-up will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2007,
10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Washington Navy Yard (WNY), Bldg.
22, Fitness Center. An authorized ID is required to access the
base of the WNY. The WNY is located off the Metro Green Line. The second packet pick-up will be Saturday, September 22, 2007
from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Pacers Running & Walking Store,
located at 3100 Clarendon Blvd. Arlington, VA 22201 (703-248-
6883). The store is within walking distance from the Clarendon
Metro stop off the Orange Line.
Race day packet pick-up will be 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. At the
race site (West Potomac Park along Ohio Drive). The race will
start promptly at 8:00 a.m. No registration accepted on race
day. There will be overall awards for the top three males and
females. The first master male and female will receive an
award. The age group awards will go to the top three males and
females five year age groups starting with 19 & under up to 60
& over. The top three male and female wheelchair will receive
awards. There will be no duplication of awards. The Admiral Challenge will be open to active duty military
teams all must be from the same branch of service. Teams
consist of 3-5 runners with a minimum of one female to score. There are additional awards given to the first place teams in
the following categories:
Military, civilian, and masters (age 40 and over).

The Navy 5-Miler is produced by the Navy Morale, Welfare, and
Recreation (MWR). The mission of MWR is to provide quality
support and recreational services that contribute to the
retention, readiness, mental, physical, and emotional well
being of our Sailors and DoD Civilians.
