Marine Corps Marathon and The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon to
Use The Active Network's Active Trainer
Marine Corps Marathon and The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon, two
of the largest and most popular marathons in the world, have
integrated a new online training service with their events to
produce the highest quality experience for their participants
and sponsors. The new online training service from The Active
Network, Active Trainer , is now the core online trainer for
Marine Corps Marathon and is one of several training programs
used by The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon. Runners at every
ability level can access Active Trainer directly from the races'
Web site to take advantage of fun and effective training tools
to prepare for race day. The service will also enhance sponsor
value and generate more revenue for the races.
Active Trainer's training programs can be accessed through a
link on a race's Web site or added directly to Active's online
registration process, allowing participants to review and
purchase training plans at the same time they register online
for an event. Race directors can also choose to incorporate
training programs from local coaches already affiliated with
their race or rely on Active's existing database of training and
recovery programs from some of the industry's top coaches.
Active Trainer offers more than 50 training plans, a customized
training log, nutrition information, training reports, workout
calculators and more. Participants can organize and plan
workouts, monitor training progress, interact with top coaches
via message boards, even locate a training partner in their
hometown.
"We're excited to offer Active's online training tools to help
prepare our runners for the best race-day experience," explained
Rick Nealis, race director for the Marine Corps Marathon. "Just
like Active's online registration service, runners can access
the training tools directly from our Web site. By driving more
traffic to our site through these new services, we're also
creating a tremendous amount of exposure for our sponsors."
To kick off the service, Marine Corps Marathon is offering Active
Trainer free of charge. More than 6,000 participants have
already signed up for the service to prepare for the October 29,
2006 race.
For its 29 th marathon on October 22, 2006, The LaSalle Bank
Chicago Marathon is offering Active Trainer plans from
running guru John Bingham and Coach Jenny Hadfield. Working with
The Active Network for the past three years, The LaSalle Bank
Chicago Marathon also uses Active's online registration and
donation services, live race-day technology and marketing
services. More than 40,000 online registrations were processed
through Active's secure online registration system for this
year's race.
Recognized as the leading technology provider for races and
events, The Active Network offers a complete suite of services
to help event directors manage their race administration and
participant data, promote their races and offer their
participants access to online services.
