Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 8:00 a.m. the 17th Lawyers Have Heart 10K Run and Fun Walk presented in partnership by Legal Placements, Inc. and the Law Firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, LLP will once again run the streets of Washington. The start and finish is located at the Washington Harbour at Georgetown. This is the time to rally co-workers, family, and friends...all in support of a great cause!

Lawyers Have Heart has raised more than $3.7 million to benefit the American Heart Association, whose mission is to reduce disability and death from cardiovascular disease (CVD) and stroke. By participating in this event, you will not only help to strengthen your own heart through exercise, you will also help raise funds vital to the education programs and research of the AHA.

Volunteers Are Still Needed
All volunteers will receive a classic Lawyers Have Heart T- shirt, admission to the post-race activities, and are eligible for random prizes. Extreme Weather Plan:
In the event of extreme weather conditions, the race committee reserves the right to cancel the race or run it as an untimed "Fun Run" without advance notice. If this should be necessary: Runners will receive shirts and packets. Post-race activities will be held. Random prizes will be announced. Winners' prizes will be converted to random prizes. No entry fee refunds will be made. There will be water at the start of the race, as well as two locations on the course that will be accessible both out and back. Historically race day is warm and to properly prepare runners should manage their fluid intake at least two days prior in an effort to be hydrated for race day conditions. The water should be consumed prior, during, and after the race. Being properly hydrated will ensure a safe race.

Merchandise awards will be presented to top six 10K males and females and the top five male and female masters. There will be no duplication of awards except for fundraisers and team entrants. (Overall awards based upon "gun time").

JetBlue Airways will award two roundtrip tickets anywhere in the Continental US to the top male and female finishers along with a $150 gift certificate from Fashion Time and $100 gift certificate from Fleet Feet from Adams Morgan.

The top master male and female will receive a $150 gift certificate from Fashion Time and a $100 gift certificate from Fleet Feet of Adams Morgan.

Merchandise awards to the top three male and female age group finishers in the following divisions: 19 and Under, 20-29, 30- 39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80 and over. (Age group awards are based on "chip time"). The first place will receive a $60 gift certificate from Fashion Time.

Additional awards in the following categories: lawyer, legal assistant, legal secretary, law librarian, administrator, summer associate, and law student.

Team awards (4 categories only): small law firms (under 50 attorneys in DC area), large law firms (over 50 attorneys in the DC area), and government and corporate.
