Goblin Gallop 5K Race Cancelled
By Dixon Hemphill, Race Director, & the Race Committee
March 12, 2003
Fairfax, VA
For the Washington Running Report

When a race committee makes a big mistake we believe it best to admit the error, apologize, and then move on.

The Ninth Annual Goblin Gallop 5K was cancelled last October due to the sniper scare. It was postponed to March 16th, then in January 2003 it was cancelled due to lack of publicity. However, we failed to notify many of the people who intended to run this coming Sunday at Fair Lakes. The announcement letter never got out!

Due to our failure to advise, in particular, those runners who had previously registered for the event last October, some of these people may show up at Fair Lakes expecting to run. Our committee will be there from 7 AM on to tell them about the cancellation; however, if the recipients of this message would please get word to their running contacts of this matter, it might alert many runners of the cancellation and save them much grief.

Frustrated by yet another race cancellation? Register now for the St. Patrick's Day 10K on Saturday, March 15, and kick off the spring racing season in style!
