The Marine Corps Marathon Web site will be getting its first major overhaul in three years, thanks to the help of partner The Active Network, MCM officials announced today. Set to launch in late March, the site will be completely revitalized with a convenient navigational design, more comprehensive information and added visuals for MCM alums, would-be marathoners, and spectators.

The new site improves navigation of critical content including registration for the MCM, Healthy Kids Fun Run and newly announced MCM 10K. The updated design also keeps many visitor favorites including a searchable results page offering historical data, links to MCM merchandise and commemorative products, the Virtual Trainer and the how-to guide for race day spectators.

The MCM web site has added new sections for runners and their families like the Visiting Virginia page for links to many great attractions, restaurants and shopping opportunities. Kids can visit the new Kids Run section to meet Miles, the MCM mascot, follow his kid-friendly links to other great health and fitness sites and even view his online photo album. Spectators can find out more about joining the new MCM Roar Corps and learn how to track their runner on race day.

Marinemarathon.com will continue to offer MCM runners great services and information, but with a whole new look," explained Rick Nealis, MCM Race Director. "I hope the new site will help spread the MCM message of health and fitness to the community with a more appealing and user-friendly way."

Voted "Best Marathon for Families" by HerSports magazine, the Marine Corps Marathon continues a combined tradition of dedication, sportsmanship and patriotism. Since its inception, over 300,000 civilian and military runners from all walks of life have participated, deservingly earning the event its nickname "The People's Marathon." The 31st Marine Corps Marathon will be held on October 29, 2006.

Rolling Registration opens on May 17th, 2006 at noon EST. Visit www.marinemarathon.com for more information.
