Marine Corps Marathon Salutes Military with Early Registration
By Beth Cline Johnson March 7, 2007 Quantico, VA For the Washington Running Report
Active Duty and Reserve military members are invited to log on
to
www.marinemarathon.com to download the early entry form
for the 32nd Marine Corps Marathon to be held October 28 in
Arlington, VA.
By printing the form, filling it out completely, and submitting
a photocopy of their active duty military ID card, servicemen
and women are able to register for the MCM in advance of the
May 9 general registration. Submit forms and the recently
reduced $75 entry fee to the MCM office, postmarked by April
30: Marine Corps Marathon, Attn: Military Registration, PO Box
188, Quantico, VA 22134, or fax (703) 784-2265. Entries without
payment and/or proof of active duty status will not be accepted.
"As we continue our salute to the people of 'The People's
Marathon' in 2007, the Marine Corps Marathon is happy to once
again offer special registration for all of the military
runners, as a thank you for their continued dedication and
service to our country," said Rick Nealis, MCM Race Director.
Military personnel who register will receive an e-mail message
confirming receipt and registration status. Runners are
instructed to keep the confirmation number contained in this
e-mail, as this will be necessary to retrieve online the
confirmation e-card, required for packet pick-up located at the
DC Armory as part of the Health and Fitness Expo, held October
25-27.
Runners in the national capital region can also avoid the
online frenzy and register early by visiting the MCM
Registration Rally at Pentagon Row on May 8 from 11:00 a.m.
until 1:00 p.m. 1,000 guaranteed entries will be available to
would-be marathoners. The Registration Rally will feature food
sampling, health and fitness product information, and
demonstrations from Pentagon Row merchants, live music, and
more! Runners must be present to register and entries will not
be accepted after 1:00 p.m.
