Runners Prepare for Lincoln Tunnel Challenge 5K
April Event Benefits Athletes of Special Olympics New Jersey

Runners are racing to register for the 22nd Annual Lincoln
Tunnel Challenge 5K Fun Run/Walk for Special Olympics New
Jersey scheduled for April 20, 2008. The only USATF certified
5K tunnel race in the country, the Lincoln Tunnel Challenge,
begins at the south tube of the tunnel in Weehawken, and
continues to NYC and back. The event, which is presented by
AmeriHealth New Jersey and sponsored by the Law Enforcement
Torch Run for Special Olympics New Jersey benefits the more
than 17,000 athletes of Special Olympics New Jersey. Interested participants can register on line at www.sonj.org or on site
beginning at 6:30 a.m. The Lincoln Tunnel Challenge is a rain
or shine event. CW11 news anchorman Jim Watkins will be on
hand to start the race at 9:00 a.m. CBSNewsradio 880's Tom
Kaminski will emcee the event. A free shuttle bus will transport runners from NY's 41st Street
between 8th & 9th avenues (at the whale mural) to the race
start on the following schedule: from NY: 7:00, 7:30, 8:00 &
8:30 a.m., returning trips to NY begin at 10:00 a.m. Free
parking is available at the NJ Transit Bus parking lot adjacent
to the Lincoln Tunnel Administration Building, 500 Boulevard
East, Weehawken, NJ. Category prizes will be awarded.
