Capitol Hill Classic Adds New Venue to This Year's Race
Press Release from the Capitol Hill Classic Race Committee
Tuesday, May 13, 2003
Washington, DC
For the Washington Running Report

The 24th Annual Capitol Hill Classic 10K is fast approaching on Sunday, May 18th, so now is the time to register! This is one of DC's best courses - and the oldest 10K in the city - running through historic Capitol Hill out to RFK Stadium then down East Capitol Street and around the Capitol building before finishing up at Stanton Park. The course is fast and flat and the race is always a good time.

There are some new features to the race this year, including a completely redesigned race logo and t-shirt. Off-street parking will also be available this year, but information for parking will be available only at the May 16th & 17th packet pick-up, so don't wait until race day to register! The team competition is making a big comeback this year; several area running clubs, health clubs, schools and corporations have started up teams that will compete against each other and try to win prizes for the fastest, largest, or best-costumed teams. There will be plenty of food for the runners in Stanton Park following the race, as well as music, children's activities, free ice cream from Ben & Jerry's, and a little soccer action with the talented athletes from the Washington Freedom.

Besides the 10K there will also be a 3K event and fun runs for children under 10. This is a great event for a great cause, the Capitol Hill Cluster School, a DC public school which serves 1000 children from age 3 through 8th grade. Both teams and individuals can register online at www.runwashington.com, or just follow the links listed below. For more information about the race, please contact call Kristen Hartke or Rick Weber at 202-543-0805 or you can contact Kristen at khartke@olg.com. We look forward to seeing you on May 18th!
