Atlantic Realty Companies, which is organizing the 4th Annual Plaza America Family 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, May 15, 2005 to benefit Children's National Medical Center, expects to welcome more than 1,000 participants of all ages and skill levels. The event, which begins at 8:30 am at Plaza America, 11730 Plaza America Drive in Reston, VA, will offer cash prizes totaling $2,000. The 5K Run/Walk will be accompanied by a Kids Fun Run beginning at 9:15 am for children 12 and under, with medals awarded to all finishers. The event is ranked third on the list of top 25 most competitive 5K races in the DC metro area.

"We have had a fantastic response to this event from participants and sponsors. Our goal is to raise $750,000 in five years to build an operating suite at Children's Hospital. We're in our fourth year and on course to exceed this year's goal of $175,000, which will bring total funds raised to more than $595, 000," said Charles K. Nulsen III, partner at Atlantic and chairman of the event (photo left, running the 2004 Plaza America 5K).

In addition to the cash prizes for the overall male and female winners ($500, $250, $125), age group prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in five-year age groups, with a new category of 14 & under this year in recognition of the many families and youngsters who participate.

Please note: On-line registration will close approximately 5:00 pm on Thursday, May 12, to prepare for on-site registration and packet pick-up. You may register in person in the lobby of the office building at 11730 Plaza America Drive from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, May 13, and from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 14, or on race day near the start/finish lines, beginning at 7:00 am.

Event festivities include food & refreshments, music (provided by DC 101), entertainment, random prize drawings, t-shirts for participants, and lots of fun for everyone.
