The Army Ten-Miler has added a new U.S. Corporate Athletic
Association (USCAA) division to its team competition and will
host the Association's inaugural 10-Mile Team Championship in
2006. The Army Ten-Miler is America's largest 10-mile race
annually attracting more than 700 military and civilian teams
to compete for top honors in a variety of team divisions. Top
U.S. military men and women's teams will compete for the
prestigious Commander's Cup and the bragging rights that come
with the Cup. "We are very excited to be hosting the USCAA competition and
championship at this year's Army Ten-Miler," noted Jim Vandak,
Race Director. The USCAA membership requirement has been waived
this year so corporate teams are encourage to "Run Army" and
compete in the USCAA division for the 10-Mile Championship.
Teams can consist of men or women but they must be from the
same corporation, organization, or company. The USCAA 10-Mile
Championship Award will be presented on the awards stage on
race day. "The United States Corporate Athletics Association (USCAA) is
proud to partner with the Army Ten-Miler in hosting the first
annual USCAA National Corporate 10-mile Championships this
year. The USCAA is excited to be part of such a prestigious
event. It's a great opportunity for our USCAA corporate members
to enjoy top-notch competition, and to go head-to-head against
some very talented running teams. We hope working together on
events like this will build greater awareness of the many
companies that support their employees' health and fitness by
entering corporate races," said Gordon Smith, USCAA.
About the USCAA
The USCAA is a nonprofit organization associated with USA Track
& Field that is dedicated to "exercising corporate fitness"
through exciting and competitive running events for corporate
employees. USCAA athletes are drawn from all ranks, ages, and
experience levels within their respective corporations.
Participation in USCAA events not only promotes fitness and good
health, but fosters a sense of teamwork and camaraderie, on the
road, the track, and in the workplace. The result is a renewed
individual and corporate spirit through a team-building exercise
that is more than just an exercise. For more information, visit
