By Roxana Hoveyda May 14, 2007 Washington, DC For the Washington Running Report
Registration for the 2007 Army Ten-Miler (ATM) closed on May
13, at 9:44 am -- a record 42 days. This year's increased field
of 26,000
filled in roughly half the time as last year. After registering
more than 5,800 people on opening day, online registration
continued at a blistering pace for America's largest 10-mile
race.
"The Army Ten-Miler has a tradition of excellence and we are
pleased to see that demand continues to grow for this premier
running event," said Jim Vandak, Race Director. Last year 97%
of our runners rated the race as "good" or "excellent" and we
look forward to providing our 2007 runners with another
fantastic race weekend experience."
The Army's 23rd annual premier running event has attracted
participants from all 50 states and 12 countries including:
Finland, Germany, Ireland, and South Korea. More than 558 teams
from around the world will compete for top honors in 25
divisions.
All hope is not lost for runners shut out of the race. For the
third year, Army Ten-Miler and MarathonGuide.com have joined to offer an
online transfer
program for Army Ten-Miler runners. Runners who are currently
signed up but unable to run can transfer their entry to someone
else. More information can be found on www.armytenmiler.com.
