For the Washington Running Report

Come and participate in a late spring/early summer runfest second to none. On Saturday, May 31 at 6:30 PM, a race named the Georgetown Classic 8K will take place in Washington, DC. The race will be held on a fast out-and-back course on the scenic Capital Crescent Trail. The race will begin on Water Street in Georgetown and head up the Capital Crescent Trail for the first half, then turn and come back down the trail to the finish line.

Proceeds go to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Team In Training program.

This is a first time event and the organizers want to make it special. They have invited four notable runners from the area to speak at the Water Street Gym from 4:00 to 5:30 PM, prior to the race, about their training habits and secrets.

On hand to speak and answer questions will be the following four local star athletes:
Michael Wardian
John Piggot
Susannah Kvasnicka
Alisa Harvey

Immediately after the race there will be refreshments and food and an awards ceremony.

Pre-race packet pick-up will be held at the Georgetown Running Company store from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on race day. The store is located at 3401 M Street in historic Georgetown.

Please register online at the race Web site. If you have questions contact Max Lockwood via e-mail or via phone: (202) 337-8626.
