By Kevin Spradlin
May 25, 2008
For the Washington Running Report

The early entry deadline for the inaugural Ragnar Relay Series team event from Cumberland, MD to Washington, DC is May 31.

The 182-mile relay, scheduled for September 26-27, 2008, is a non-stop race beginning in Cumberland on the C&O Canal Towpath and ending in the heart of the nation's capital. Team captains must register their teams by May 31 and pay the $960 entry fee, a breakdown of $80 for each of the 12 runners on the team. After May 31, the cost increases to $1,140, or $95 per runner.

Teams consist of 12 runners - male, female or co-ed. Each runner completes three nonconsecutive legs along the towpath. Each leg measures between 2.8 and 9.2 miles. Cumulative distances for each runner range between 12.7 and 18.9 miles.
