ZOOMA Annapolis Runners to Celebrate at Over-the-Top Post-Race Party

Post-race Celebration to Include Music, Gifts, Wine, and More
By Brae Blackley
May 1, 2008
Annapolis, MD
For the Washington Running Report

ZOOMA Annapolis announced the details of its After Party-Expo on June 1 at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis. The party is uniquely tailored for ZOOMA's runners with wine and champagne, spa treatments, a unique silver necklace for all race finishers, live music, and shopping. Barefoot Wines will provide free wine and champagne for all After Party attendees, and participants will enjoy live music from David Andrew Smith and the Doug Segree Band and lunch from Bo Brooks Catering. Spa treatments will be sponsored by Varuna Salon Spa, a new Aveda salon and spa in Annapolis.

ZOOMA also revealed the much-anticipated post-race gift for race finishers, sponsored by ZOOMA Women's Race Series and Saturn. Unlike many events that offer medals for race finishers, ZOOMA Annapolis runners will receive a specially- designed silver necklace to commemorate their participation in ZOOMA's inaugural event. Runners will be presented with the jewelry gift after crossing the finish line in Jonas Green Park.

"A fantastic post-race party and a fabulous finishers' gift is a big part of what we are trying to accomplish with ZOOMA Annapolis," said Brae Blackley, executive director of ZOOMA Women's Race Series. "Training for and completing a half marathon or 10K is something to be proud of, and we want to give our runners the opportunity to reward themselves and celebrate that great achievement with family and friends."

The post-race party will be held in the '53 Pavilion in the end zone of the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis. Runners and spectators at the post-race party will have the opportunity to browse booths with innovative and creative products that are particularly relevant for active women. New Balance and Fleet Feet Annapolis will team up to educate runners on proper shoes and apparel and will be selling running gear. Corazonas, a California-based company, will give away free samples of their heart-healthy tortilla chips. Gracie's Gear and Training will sell sports bras with the patented POWER POUCH, allowing women to comfortably carry an MP3 player, cell phone, identification, or gels during workouts. ZICO will offer samples of its naturally healthy coconut water, great for rehydration and replenishment after workouts. And Al Lyman, founder of the Runner-CORE strength training system, will speak and offer free instructional demos.

The ZOOMA After Party-Expo is free and open to the public. Hours are from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm on Sunday, June 1.
