It's getting down to the home stretch for the 10th Outback Steakhouse Corridor Classic 8K and 2 Mile Fun Walk, Sunday, November 24, 2002 at 9:00 A.M. The Outback Steakhouse will be the Official Hospitality sponsor. The race is to benefit Special Olympics Prince George's County. The funds raised will help athletes during training and competition.

The event will offer something for the entire family with the added excitement of some top competition as the purse of $5,200 will be shared by runners (equally split male and female) of all ages to 75 and over. The open purse will be five deep with the first place receiving $500 down to $75 for fifth place. The masters division will be from first place of $300 down to $75 for fourth place. There will be $50 going to the first place finisher in the following age groups: 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 and over. No duplication of awards.

The top three males and females in the age groups will receive adidas Stripe 3 (College Park, Md.) merchandise awards.

There will be random prizes donated by area restaurants and retailers for give away after the race.

The race will start and finish at Prince George's Plaza at 3500 East-West Highway, Hyattsville, Md., located off the Green Line of the Metro Transit System. The certified course (MD01011JS) goes around the perimeter of the Plaza and exits the rear towards Northwestern High School and then winds through the scenic surrounding neighborhoods. There are moderate up and down hills with a balance of flat segments. You will run your best.

An added incentive, a $100 bonus for new event records to the fastest male and female in the open and masters division. The marks to beat

If that's not enough, run with the best and leave the rest, get your running groups together to go after the team purse of first place $300 and second place $150. There is a special team rate of $15 for each member, groups of five or more and the top four score. Team Pacers of Old Town Alexandria, Va., will be going head to head against Falls Road Running of Baltimore, Md. Your group can be in that mix to take it to the next level.
