Cash Prizes Offered!
On Sunday, November 2, 2003, The Ivymount School will host a 5K Race for Excellence, a 5K run/walk and 1 mile fun run/walk. There is a $1,500 cash purse with first place male and female finishers receiving $350 each, second place finishers receiving $250 each, and third place finishers receiving $150 each. Gift Certificates or merchandise will be awarded to first and second place finishers in five-year age categories. All registrants receive a great looking long-sleeved cotton t-shirt and are eligible for random prizes. Refreshments will be served immediately following the race.

Participants will follow a USATF certified single loop course through the gently rolling neighborhood streets of Regency Estates with a start/finish at Ivymount School (located on Seven Locks Road between Tuckerman Lane and Montrose Road in Rockville, MD) Course map Capital Running Company is managing this ChampionChip timed race.

Participants can register on- line or use the printable entry form. Mail the form to Ivymount School 5K Race, c/o Capital Running Company, 13710 Ashby Road, Rockville, MD 20853, OR fax it to 301-871-0006 before October 28th. Registration will be available at Ivymount School (11614 Seven Locks Road, Rockville, Maryland, 20854 - between Tuckerman Lane and Montrose Road) on Friday, October 31st from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, on Saturday, November 1st between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm, and on Sunday, November 2nd from 7:00 am to 7:45 am.

Ivymount School is a non-sectarian, non-profit, independent day school serving students, ages 4-21, with multiple disabilities (developmental delays, speech and language deficits, pervasive developmental disorder including autism, and medical fragilities). Since its founding in 1961, Ivymount has enabled more than 6,500 children and young adults from throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area to lead more productive and independent lives. The Race for Excellence recognizes Ivymount School for having been twice named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education. Proceeds from the race will directly benefit Ivymount students and help ensure the continuing availability of quality educational and therapeutic programs and services.
