Virginia Run community volunteers will stage a Thanksgiving
tradition on November 27th at 8:00am--the 15th Annual Virginia
Run Turkey Trot. The Trot includes a 5K race as well as a 2K fun run/walking
course. Each travels through the Virginia Run community, which
is located at Route 29 and Pleasant Valley Road in Centreville.
All proceeds from the Turkey Trot benefit Life with Cancer,
INOVA Health System's non-profit program for cancer patients and
their families. "The Turkey Trot and Life with Cancer have grown
up together," commented Dominic DeVincenzo, Race Chairman. The
event has been raising funds for the cancer program for eleven
years. During that time, Life with Cancer has become a well-
established support program and in 2002 the Turkey Trot
attracted enough participants and sponsors to net a $35,000
donation to the charity.
The event is open to anyone wishing to enjoy the brisk weather
and get some exercise before indulging in Thanksgiving fare.
Last year more than 1,500 runners and 750 walkers participated.
Easy registration is available
