American University will host its 3rd annual "American Classic
5k: Race for Humanity" to benefit the American University
Chapter of Habitat for Humanity on Saturday, October 16, 2004. Team Runn'g Heads is a student running club and community
service organization that promotes physical fitness in
coordination with community service. Team Runn'g Heads
continues to aid the American University community in the
completion of President Benjamin Ladner's Strategic
Plan, "Ideas into Action, Action into Service," in which
President Ladner states, "I propose that we find new ways to
validate this truth and to include in the educational
experience of our students habits of fitness that integrate a
sound mind with a sound body." American University's Habitat for Humanity is also a student-
run organization. Currently fundraising for "The Second House
that AU Built," AU's chapter successfully completed its first
project, "The House that AU Built," in the spring of 2002,
providing Washington, DC with affordable low-income family
housing. Students hope to conclude fundraising and begin
constructing the "Second House" this spring. This event is open to the public. American University is
located at 4400 Massachusetts Avenue NW and registration opens
at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 16th. The run starts at 8:00
a.m. For directions, go to
www.american.edu/maps. To register for the race go to
