The 20th Anniversary Race
From the official press release October 19, 2004 Washington, DC For the Washington Running Report
The Army Ten-Miler is America's largest ten-mile road race and
the Army's premier running event. The 20th annual Army Ten-Miler
takes place this Sunday, October 24 in Washington, DC at the
Pentagon. To
celebrate this commemorative race, registration increased to
20,000 runners in 2004. Military and civilian runners come from
all
across the country and the world to be a part of this
traditional event. The Army Ten-Miler is produced by the United
States Army Military District of Washington.The U.S. Army Golden Knights, the world's premier skydiving
team, will jump start the 20th Anniversary of the Army Ten-Miler
race with an aerial demonstration. Following the skydive, the
Golden Knights will be on site to motivate runners and interact
with spectators. The race includes a runners' expo and packet pick-up on Friday
and Saturday, October 22-23, at the Marriott Crystal Gateway
Hotel, 1700 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA. All runners must go to the race headquarters hotel with photo ID
to pick up their packet. Each packet includes bib number,
runners' program, GEICO chip strap and other information. Timing
chips will be distributed on site. Runners must exit the Packet
Pick-Up area to enter the Race Expo and pick up their t-shirt. When: Friday (10/22) & Saturday (10/23)
Time: 10 AM to 7 PM
Where: Crystal Gateway Marriott - Arlington Ballroom
All runners must show a photo ID to obtain packet(s) and
race/bib number.
Obtain a friend's packet with a copy of his/her photo ID and
race/bib number.
Individual and team runners will pick up their packets in the
same ballroom.
Everyone will be issued a ChampionChip on site.
Chip owners may bring their ChampionChip to the hotel to be
registered to their bib number.
Runners will not be allowed to pick up packets on race day. The hotel is located at the Crystal City Metro station on the
Blue/Yellow lines.

Independence Ave. (westbound lanes) from Ohio Drive to 14th Street, SW
Independence Ave. (all lanes) from 14th Street, SW to 1st Street, SW
3rd Street, between Independence and Constitution Aves
Constitution Ave. between 3rd Street and 1st Street
14th Street, south to I-395 HOV lane (northbound)
I-395 HOV lane (northbound) to Eads Street ramp
Transportation and Directions to the Start Area
All events are accessible by Metro. Metro will open at 6:00 AM
on Sunday morning. It is highly recommended that media,
participants, and spectators use Metro (Pentagon and Pentagon
City stations--Blue/Yellow lines). There is NO parking at the
Pentagon. From the Pentagon Metro Station, continue walking west toward
the balloon arches on Route 27. From Pentagon City Metro Station
& Army-Navy Drive, use Fern Street or the I-395 pedestrian
tunnel to get to the Pentagon South Parking Lot, pass through
the security checkpoint, and continue walking west toward the
balloon arches on Route 27. Please, allow extra time for race day arrival to go through
Security at the Pentagon and to check your bag.
