from HFP Racing October 7, 2004 Morgantown, WV
The Greater Morgantown Convention and Visitors Bureau and HFP Racing are pleased to announce the addition of an olympic distance triathlon to the already exciting and busy 2005 MedExpress Mountaineer Triathlon race weekend being held June 25-26, 2005. Both events will take place in Morgantown, West Virginia on June 26, 2005.The Olympic distance triathlon (1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run) was added to allow triathletes from around the country to share in the excitement of race weekend while joining top professional and amateur triathletes who are competing in the half ironman distance triathlon (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run). Olympic distance participants will be able to taste and feel the excitement of the unique Mountaineer Triathlon and still have time to see the winners cross the finish line in the Half Ironman distance race. The Olympic distance race also provides an excellent opportunity for triathletes to gauge their early-season fitness level before attempting a Half Ironman distance effort. Jay Redmond from the Morgantown CVB remarked, "All athletes will be treated to the fun, excitement, and warm hospitality of the city of Morgantown during their stay in West Virginia. It will definitely be an experience that they will cherish for years. The city and its inhabitants are geared up and ready to extend the red carpet!" General event, registration, confirmation, and travel information can be found at www.MountaineerTri.com .
