Raising Awareness of Prostate Cancer
The 2004 Washington D.C. PACE Race 5K Run/Walk will be held Saturday, October 30 at 9:00 a.m. on Pennsylvania Avenue NW between 11th and 12th Streets NW. The event consists of a 5K run and walk, with proceeds going to raise awareness and funding to fight prostate cancer.

"It's an honor for Washington D.C. to be chosen a second straight year for this worthy cause," said Rick Freedman, the Washington, D.C. PACE 5K Race Director. "With the support of local businesses and the community we are confident that our second year will continue this event's record of success."

The PACE Race Series mission is to ultimately eliminate prostate cancer by raising awareness and financial support for national research and local screening and treatment. Other race locations in the East include New York and Hartford.

"It's very important for men of all ages to get checked," said Dr. John Lynch, Chairman of Urology at Georgetown University School of Medicine. "These simple check-ups can help save your life."

Pre-race entry fees are $22 for adults and $12 for kids 18 and under. Race day fees will be $27 for adults and $17 for kids. Registration is available online at www.SignMeUpSports.com.

Awards will be presented to the top three overall men and women from both the 5K run and walk, as well as to the top three men and women in the 5K in the following age groups: 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over.

The Washington, D.C. PACE Race 5K Run/Walk is presented locally by Georgetown University Hospital. For more information, visit the PACE Race 5K Web site or call (202) 444-7732.
