Harvest Day 5K Run Canceled
By Rick Platt

For the Washington Running Report

Isabel's Effects Still With Us
The first annual "Harvest Day 5K Run" will have to wait another year.

The event, originally scheduled for Saturday, October 18, 2003 at York River State Park, has been cancelled. The 5K course included a combination of park roads and wooded trails, and the extensive damage (downed trees and flood damage) from Hurricane Isabel left the York River State Park with major repairs that could not be completed by mid-October.

The race will be held in 2004 with a fall date to be determined.

For further information, contact race director David Lamson at (757) 220-8351 or (757) 206-8930, or Colonial Road Runners president Rick Platt at (757) 229-7375.

When eventually held, the 5K run will benefit the Williamsburg AIDS Network, as well as the Colonial Road Runners Scholarship Fund.
