
Inaugural PricewaterhouseCoopers Parks Half-Marathon
Takes off on Sunday, September 24, 2006

Join the Montgomery County Road Runners Club (MCRRC) in a
celebration of running, nature, and community at the first
running of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Parks Half-Marathon
Sunday, September 24, 2006 at 7:00 am. Runners will begin their
13.1 mile run in downtown Rockville taking them through scenic
parkland along the Rock Creek and Capitol Crescent trails and
finishing in downtown Bethesda.
Runners from 18 states, the District of Columbia, and France are
currently registered. The event is limited to 2,000 entries. The
Parks Half-Marathon provides runners a final tune-up for their
fall marathons or alternate distance for the fall racing season.
The following streets will be affected on Sunday September 24, 2006
* Stonestreet Avenue in Rockville will be closed for pre-race
activities from 4:00 am -7:15 am
* The rightmost lane (south/east-bound direction) of Viers MillRoad will be closed from 6:50 am - 7:35 am. This closure affects the section between Rockville Pike and Aspen Hill road. * The following roads that intersect with Viers Mill Road will also be affected; traffic coming from the south will not be able to cross or enter Viers Mill Road, or to enter these roads from Viers Mill Road. The service road on the south side of Viers Mill Road will remain open. Traffic on these roads north of Viers Mill Road will not be affected.
* 1st Street (RT 28) will from 6:50 am - 7:10 am.
* Gail Avenue from 7:00 am -7:30 am
* Edmonston Drive from 7:00 am -7:30 am
* Clagett Drive from 7:00 am -7:30 am
* Broadway Drive will from 7:00 am -7:30 am
* Ardennes Avenue from 7:00 am -7:30 am
* Midway Avenue from 7:00 am -7:30 am
* Atlantic Avenue from 7:00 am -7:30 am
* Twinbrook Parkway from 7:05 am -7:30 am.
* Randolph Road will be closed at the intersection with the
Rock Creek Bike path (just west of Dewey Road), from 7:15 am to
7:55 am.
* Garret Park Road will be closed at the intersection with the * Rock Creek Bike path from 7:25 am-8:10 am.
* Wexford Road will be closed at the intersection with the Rock * Creek Bike path and Beach Drive from 7:25 am - 8:15 am.
* Knowles Avenue will be closed at the intersection with the
Rock Creek Bike path and Beach Drive from 7:30 am - 8:20 am.
Parkwood Avenue will be closed at the intersection with the Rock * Creek Bike path and Beach Drive from 7:30 am- 8:20 am.
Parts of Beach Drive will be closed between Grosvenor Lane and * Old Spring Road from 7:30 am - 9:15 am at intersections with the Rock Creek Bike path (north of Franklin Street, south of Connecticut Avenue, north of Old Spring Road).
* Cedar Lane will be closed at the intersection with the Rock
Creek Bike path (just south of Beach Drive) from 7:40 am - 8:45
am.
* Stanhope Rd will be closed at the intersection with the Rock Creek Bike path and Beach Drive from 7:40 am-8:55 am.
* Kensington Parkway will be closed at the intersection with
the Rock Creek Bike path, just north of Beach Drive from 7:40 am - 8:55 am.
* Jones Mill Road will be closed at the intersection with the
Rock
Creek Bike path, just south of Forsythia Road and the 495
overpass, from 7:45 am - 9:10 am.
* The north bound lane of Jones Mill Road will be closed north
of
Jones Mill Road from 7:50 am - 9:20 am.
* One lane of Susanna Lane off of Jones Mill Road will be
closed
from 7:50 am - 9:20 am.
* Connecticut Avenue will be closed in Bethesda at the
intersection with the Georgetown Branch Trail, between Chevy
Chase Lake Drive and Manor Road, from 8:00 am - 9:35 am.
Woodmont Avenue in Bethesda, between Elm Street and Bethesda
Avenue, will be closed from 5:00 am - Noon for finish area
activities.
