Providing the Best in Service to the Running Community

Who We Are
Capital Running Company (formerly Colonial Running Company) has been in service to the running community for more than twenty-five years, providing finish line scoring, publishing the Washington Running Report bi-monthly since 1984, event and race management services for many of the Washington area's big-name races, and support for numerous local and national charities. The company has evolved into an event management and promotion company which specializes in first-time events, large events requiring significant sponsor exposure, and anything timed with the ChampionChip timing system.

Rick and Kathy Freedman acquired the company in 1994, and have more than twenty years of experience in all aspects of race management and finish line services. We trained as volunteers with the nation's largest all-volunteer running club, and project a professional spirit of fun and enjoyment in running and racing. As runners ourselves, we understand running and racing from the runners' as well as the sponsors' perspectives. Our attention to detail creates events that participants, race organizers, and sponsors alike appreciate.

During the company's operation we have been fortunate to develop a dependable, professional race crew of family, friends, runners, and others who share our enthusiasm for the sport. Their sacrifice on most weekend mornings, with little sleep, in all types of weather, enables us to provide such quality services.
