Washington, DC's largest 8K marks the official start of the
spring racing season! Join us at Freedom Plaza for a day of
family fun that includes the 8K, a 1K kids fun run, Irish
dancing and entertainment, ChampionChip timing, refreshments,
random prizes, and more.

16th Annual Van Metre 5 Mile Run For Children's Hospital

3-15-08 Van Metre 5-Mile Run for Children's Hospital (Broadlands, VA)
The Van Metre 5-Mile Run is an event for the entire family.
Serious runners, weekend and occasional joggers, walkers, and
even strollers (for the One Mile Fun Run/Walk only) of all
skill levels are invited to participate. The 5-Mile Run
features ChampionChip timing and team competition. This event
has more prizes for children than any other race. The 5 mile
course stretches throughout the beautiful Broadlands community.
There is also an easy 1 mile course for children and walkers.A new course has been developed since the staging area has
moved from the Nature Center to the Broadlands Market Place on
Wyndridge Drive. This new shopping center will have plenty of
room for parking. About half of the previous course is being
used for the new 5 mile route.
The race is the first event in the 2008 Loudoun Race Series.

Welcome to the 3rd annual Suntrust Banks National Marathon and
Half Marathon! Join us on Saturday, March 29th, 2008 as we
change the course of history with our DC inclusive marathon
route. Highlighting both the iconic depth of the region and the
emergence of new and eclectic neighborhoods, the National
Marathon will again place top priority on individualizing each
runner's experience. Produced by the Greater Washington Sports
Alliance, the race raises funds for eleven local youth
investment organizations that use sports to build character,
encourage physical fitness and enhance education.

4-13-08 Pepsi's International Race to Stop the Silence 10K, 5K Pledge Fun Run/Walk, & Kids' 1K Fun Run (Anacostia Park, Washington, DC)
* Join us in Anacostia Park in Washington, DC for the fifth
annual National Race to Stop the Silence 10K, 5K Pledge Fun
Run/Walk, and 1K Kids' Fun Run and help stop child sexual
abuse. Child sexual abuse is a silent epidemic, for the
children, adult survivors, and society. This event features
Timing Tag timing, awards in 10-year age groups in the 10K, and
a 5K fun run/walk in which participants raise funds for the
work of the organization. This event is good for the whole
family. There is a 1K Kids' Fun Run, too, with prizes for all
kids 12 and under who register.

Break the Silence: Walk/Run for Ovarian Cancer 5K

5-10-08 Break the Silence: Walk/Run for Ovarian Cancer 5K (Reston, VA) at 9:00 AM
Entering its sixth year, the 2008 5K race is again
sanctioned by the U.S. Track and Field Association with prize
money for the top 3 open male and female finishers. A maximum
field of 600 runners will compete in the certified 5K along the
scenic W&OD trail. Several hundred more, including ovarian
cancer survivors, their friends and family members, will
participate in the 1-Mile walk that winds its way around the
town center. Up to 1,500 spectators will be present along both
routes and at the finish, making the Virginia Run/Walk for the
Whisper an increasingly popular sporting event.
In-person registration is being held Friday, May 9th at the
Metro Run & Walk store in Falls Church from 1:00 to 7:00 PM and
on Saturday, May 10th at the Reston Town Center until 9:00 AM.

Join the Loudoun Therapeutic Riding Foundation for A Day at the
Races on the grounds of the beautiful 1200 acre estate at
Morven Park in Leesburg, VA. A full morning of activities will
include a ChampionChip-timed 5K cross-country race using the
equestrian trails and a few "obstacles," a Family Fun Mile,
a "Road Apple Rally," Carriage House Museum tours, and more!
Proceeds benefit the programs offered by Loudoun Therapeutic
Riding Foundation.

09-15-07 New Orleans Rebirth 5K Run/Walk & Festival (Alexandria, VA)
Run along the Potomac to raise funds and awareness for
rebuilding efforts in New Orleans! This 3rd annual run
(formerly the Gulf Coast Relief Run) has raised more than
$138,000 for Katrina relief efforts. This event boasts a
beautiful USATF-certified 5K course, chip timing, age group
awards, runner support, commemorative items, and a post race
festival with LIVE jazz, children's activities, and great food.
Meet NOLA resident advocates and discuss their work in
rebuilding this great city. Compete with colleagues and friends
in our Roll Call Team Challenge or join us early on race day
for the New Orleans Rebirth "10 mile + 5K" training run. Get
your long run in and support this great event!

Join us for the 4th annual Page's Run, a ChampionChip timed 5K
race/walk and kids' fun run to benefit the Page's Memorial
Foundation. The race is held at Winston Churchill High School
in Potomac, MD, and runs through residential neighborhoods.
There will be post-race music, awards and prizes near the
track. There will be a special award for a new course record.
Overall male and female winners win a Boston weekend getaway
(to include airfare and luxury lodging)!

Come to race but bring the family at the 3rd annual College
Park Cares 10K on Saturday, November 3rd at City Hall in
College Park. There is something for everyone here: Crisp
autumn weather, cash awards to the top 3 overall finishers, and
AMB ChipX timing on a flat, scenic route through College Park's
scenic neighborhoods and parklands. Back at City Hall, a Fun
Walk, Kids Race, activities, free T-shirts, refreshments, and
entertainment round out the festivities. Sponsored by Vecna and
others with a commitment to giving back to the community, all
proceeds from the race go to charities in Prince George's
County, so it is good for your heart in all kinds of ways.

Montgomery County's oldest continuous race, the 32nd running of
the Rockville 10K/5K, is the final race in the Rockville Triple
Race Series. The race series includes the DARCARS Pike's Peek
10K, the Rockville Twilight Runfest 8K, and the 10K race of the
Rockville 10K/5K. The race series has a $1,000 prize pot that
is in addition to non-cash prizes given to Rockville 10K and 5K
winners. New This Year! Athletic Shoe Drive. Donate your "used
but not abused" athletic shoes and help fight hunger in Africa.

The popular Washington, DC Masonic Veterans Day 10K, continues
for the 8th year in Washington, DC! A 2.25 mile fun walk makes
the event a real family affair. Held in West Potomac Park, the
race benefits Helping Our Heroes Foundation, Inc. It is the
same great race, ChampionChip timed, with a fast cruise around
Hains Point, a cash purse, and awards to the top three male and
female finishers in five-year age groups to 80 & above!

25th Annual YMCA B-CC Turkey Chase 10K, 2 Mile, and 50 Meter Kids Run

The largest running event in Montgomery County and the
signature charity event of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rotary and
the YMCA B-CC benefits both YMCA and Rotary community outreach
programs. New this year is 50-meter kids run, ChampionChip wave
starts, and a $1000 scholarship to the high school with the
most participants. With 6000 entrants the 2-mile walk/run, the
USATF Certified 10K run, and the 50 Meter Kids run offer events
that will appeal to the entire family!

The Virginia Run Turkey Trot 5K has become a family tradition
with a 5K race and 2 kilometer fun walk--a fun, healthy start
to Thanksgiving Day. All proceeds from the Turkey Trot benefit
Life with Cancer, Inova Health System's nonprofit program for
cancer patients and their families. The event features
ChampionChip timing and awards for the community residents as
well as awards for the general public.
