Leesburg 10K & 20K: 2008

10K & 20K Courses

USATF Certification No. VA05003JS (10K) and VA04004JS (20K).

The 10K and 20K courses were redesigned for the 2005 race. The courses are a scenic, challenging, and rewarding tour of Leesburg's downtown and the Washington & Old Dominion Trail. Baby Joggers and strollers are not permitted on the course as they are a safety hazard on the W&OD trail.

The courses start and finish together in downtown Leesburg on Harrison Street in front of Market Station (in front of Tuscarora Restaurant, 203 Harrison Street, SE 20175). MapQuest The course proceeds south on Harrison Street, right onto Catoctin Circle, and then right into the shopping center parking lot, before exiting onto Fairfax Street and turning right onto King Street. Runners will turn left onto the W&OD Trail, following an out-and-back course on the trail.

The 10K turnaround is just before Milepost 37. 20K runners will continue on, crossing over Rt. 7 and past Simpson Circle, before turning around approximately one-third of a mile beyond Milepost 39.5.

Water and porta-johns will be available on the course.

Banners will be hung over the finish line designating the appropriate side for 10K and 20K runners to finish. As you approach the finish, look for the banner indicating the distance you ran, listen for race officials' instructions, and finish on the appropriate side.

After crossing the ChampionChip mats, walk around in the corral until you catch your breath and cool down. Then remove your ChampionChip and drop it in the gray buckets at the exit from the corral. Enjoy the post-race refreshments!
